This is a great side dish that goes well with beef entrees. It combines sour cream, horseradish and garlic salt in a creamy sauce. My friend Libby makes this all the time for her dinner parties!
Step: 1
In a large covered pot, steam asparagus 3 to 4 minutes, or until tender but still bright green. Remove from the pot and arrange in a single layer in a 9x13 inch pan.
Step: 2
In a medium bowl, mix together sour cream, horseradish, and garlic salt; spoon over asparagus. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter and bread crumbs; sprinkle over the asparagus.
Step: 3
Preheat the oven’s broiler and adjust the oven rack so that it is about 3 inches from the heat source.
Step: 4
Broil asparagus 1 to 2 minutes, until the topping is toasted, taking care to watch closely to prevent over browning.

The most obvious way to choose a side dish is to look at your main dish (pasta, chicken, seared tofu) and pick more different. When you’re cooking pasta, go for a simple vegetable . Made steak? Go for more light. If you’re want to cooking stir-fry with rice, it must not a good idea to also make a rice salad.
This also can apply to cooking method . You don’t want to overcommit your oven by making to do list three dishes at once in there, or be rounding four pans on the cooking items . But often you can make a dish do double-duty .
